Jamaica is getting its first UNICO property, and reservations are already open well before the doors are. Here's what's confirmed so far and why I'm not waiting to book it for my clients.
P.S. I share honest reviews for Jamaica all inclusive resorts, insider tips and the things I wish more people knew before booking in my private Facebook group. Come join us.

When Does UNICO 18°77° Montego Bay Open?
UNICO 18°77° Montego Bay is scheduled to open March 1, 2027. It's the brand's first move outside Mexico and its third hotel overall. Reservations officially opened in August 2026.
Where Is It, and How Far Is It From the Airport?
The resort sits on Montego Bay's coastline, about 20 minutes from Sangster International Airport. This is going to be such a great option for people who want long weekend stays and don't want to spend a lot of time getting to the resort.
Is UNICO 18°77° Montego Bay Adults-Only?
Yes. It's adults only and all inclusive, with 451 rooms.
The Rooms
Adults only can sometimes mean couples only because brands like Excellence Oyster Bay, several Sandals properties and Couples resorts only offer a king bed, no matter which room category you book.
I'm excited that some of UNICO's suites come with two queen beds. If you've ever booked a room with two beds, you know that it's usually two double beds. That one detail opens the resort up to friend trips and adult family trips, not just couples.

I love that the swimup suites aren't limited to one bed type. You'll find the swim up suite option in both the king and two queen room categories.
Another big plus for this resort is that it's super close to popular tours and excursions like bamboo rafting, horseback riding and if you're into nightlife off-property, you're only about 30 minutes away from the lively town of Montego Bay.

Should you book a resort as soon as it opens?
Most travel agents will tell you to wait at least a year to book a new resort so they can work out the kinks.
I don't agree with that. I find most resorts are near "perfection" by month five or six.
And with Jamaica being a popular destination and social media making things blow up overnight, a new opening means a rush of bookings and let's be honest, not everyone who books is neat and tidy.
That means early repairs for the resort, so I say get in early while things are still fresh and new.
